Our
good friend Christalyn Concha aka Chrystalline
will be back for her second HEMF appearance. Chrystalline injects
her Pueblo heritage with heaps of love into a funky mix of soulful
house music that touches the heart and soul of dance floor audiences
from her native New Mexico all the way to Hawaii.
Chrystalline is a vocal advocate of women in the music industry and
founded the female DJ collective LadyDjs.com
to support and empower a growing female DJ scene. |

Island Love is excited to announce the return of the
Muthafunka, Nik Sliverski the nightlife chameleon is flying
in from Tokyo with a bag full of musical treats straight from the
FunkaBunka. Nik has been an essential part of HEMF since the very
first one and we're giddy that he's taking time out of his busy schedule
to play with us in Hawaii. Yey! |
Jeshua
Scheumack aka Friction
rocks dance floors from the Burningman dessert to the San Francisco
LoveFest. In his early years he was a touring live musician sharing
bills with Cake and the Def Tones.
Born
in Stockholm, Sweden while his parents were on tour, he soon merged
into the music world and today crafts one of the finest sounds in
the San Francisco club and underground scene. We are stoked to have
him back for his second HEMF participation. |

Rhythm Star keeps
pushing the musical envelope to create meaningful mystical experiences
that take us beyond the here and now. Adam knows how to send the dance
floor on a beautiful journey with his skillful blend of bassline breaks,
deep progressive house and tribal psychedelica.

Layla from Portland Oregon, mesmerizes dance floors with
her sultry middle eastern worldtronica, silky smooth tribal rhythms
and vibrant dance floor energy that touches the soul and body.
She started the project Sister PDX, where women could spin records,
share music, connect and learn. The gatherings ultimately spawned
the Portland branch of the San Francisco collective, Sister SF. |

Samantha
Sassmouth's
early classical training and live performances in string quartets
and punk bands prepared her well for her career in techno music. Sam's
love for minimal tech-house takes her to Detroit, Miami, Ibiza, Chile
and the Mutek festival. Her collaborations with techno visionary Frankie
Vega are adding depth to her sound and her wicked bass lines. |
Mycho
Cocao always produced music with whatever he could get
his hands on. Recording into boom boxes, prototype drum machines and
the best Fischer-Price had to offer in the way of plastic turntables
and cassette recorders.
Mycho's sound comes from the mind, booty, and soul. It's liberally
flavored with dubstep, glitch hop, Latin house, and tribal breakbeats,
with a little bit o’ swing.
He co-founded the San Francisco Fringe
Arts and Music Collective producing events incorporating live
music, electronica and multimedia art within the SF underground scene.

His heart, his soul, his funky breaks. A man of integrity and compassion
who's not afraid to share his vision with the world. He is the founder
of the Shasta
Gatherings. His mission is to lift our personal and collective

Luckey
Brown calls the Volcano area his home. Here he spins his chunky
funk house records under the beautiful geodesic dome formerly occupied
by HEMF allumni Jeneye. This is his second HEMF participation and
we're happy to hear what he's been working on.a |

Portland
based multi-instrumentalist Rena
Jones crafts a blend of ethno, IDM, breakbeat, and downtempo
featuring her unique style of live strings and percussion. She's a
classically trained violinest/cellist who studied sound engineering
at Ex’pression
Center for New Media in Emeryville and is considered one of the
leading wahine in audio engineering today. She worked at WaveGroup
Sound and Digidesign, where she helped develop the ProTools sound
application.

Jonah
Gabriel Lipsky aka J.Wail
from Phoenix AZ got into music at an early age. He now plays guitar
synth, sequencer, loop pedal and a plethora of instruments to create
his unique live organic spacefunk. He's been touring to promote his
new album and is excited to celebrate his birthday with his appearance
at HEMF5. |

The newest addition to the Big Island electronic music scene Phokiss
is the collaboration of Earth Angel Anne and Sky Makai from Puna.
They are active in the developement of Ecstatic Dance at Kalani Honua
and play beautiful arrangements at Electric
Lounge and Planet Zulu.
