Hilo side:
The Wild Ginger Inn is a lovely old plantation style hotel, simple and romantic, with a beautiful garden and a lot of heart. All rooms are freshly renovated, no frills, clean, and with private bath. There's a large open hawaiian style lounge area with hammocks when you first walk in. It's just a short walk to downtown. You can see the ocean and Coconut Island. They have laundry facilities and rooms for up to 4 people.
Dolphin Bay Inn - Just a short walk from downtown Hilo, Dolphin Bay Hotel offers comfortable accommodations at a low price.
Hilo Bay Hostel - very nicely renovated old downtown building. The hostel is located on the 2nd floor. Very clean and fairly inexpensive. Private rooms available. Internet and common kitchen. There's a good coffee shop on street level. Right in town and two minute walk from Palace Theater.
Arnott's Lodge - Hilo. A few miles from downtown Hilo. Camping, bunk beds and private rooms available. The cheapest place to stay in Hilo but not right in town. Nice communal spaces, laundrymat. Close to Hilo's best beaches. International youth hostel atmosphere.
The Hilo Hawaiian Hotel - The classy joint in Hilo. Overlooking Coconut island.
Puna side:
Kalani Honua Oceanside Resort - deep in the Puna rainforest. About 45 minutes from Hilo. This is the location of our ambient HEMF pool party sunday afternoon as well as our weekly sunday morning ecstatic dance. Kalani is a beautiful jungle retreat close to the ocean with rooms, guest houses & camping available. I recommend staying here at the end of the festival for that true jungle experience. You'll love it down there. Very good organic kitchen (breakfast, lunch, dinner), pool, hot tubs, sauna, yoga classes, bodywork. Close to black sand beach & warm ponds. Special rate for HEMF participants.
Kona side:
King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel - right next to our party at the Mixx. Classy hawaiian style hotel right on the ocean.
Koa Wood Hale Inn
Manago Hotel Captain Cook - overlooks beautiful Kealakekua Bay, and the ancient Hawaiian Place of Refuge, Honaunau.
